Choosing a college is one of the most important decisions a student and family will make in their lives. Pam provides the support and guidance necessary so that students and their families can make a decision that is best for them. Pam can also relieve the tension that sometimes comes when students and parents are faced with an overwhelming process. We will identify your goals and then create a list of target schools that fit those academic, social, geographic, financial, and athletic parameters. Next, we will formulate a plan that will offer you the greatest chance of admission. You can feel confident that we will provide the college help you are looking for.
College Admissions Assistance
College is a major financial, time, and energy commitment. By investing wisely in the planning process, you can avoid costly mistakes and secure a better college fit. Some of the ways that I provide one-on-one assistance and advice are by frequent in person meetings, weekly update reminders (especially of impending deadlines), emails, and phone contact.
We will develop a plan to portray your application in the most positive light (focus on your strengths and minimize any weaknesses), and develop a strategy to help you achieve your goals.
If you are presently enrolled in a community college or other 4 year university and wish to transfer, Pam can help you make the right choice and walk you through the complex transfer application process. If you have attended college previously, you are considered a transfer student. Helping Hand College Guidance does all the necessary research on the admission requirements of the different universities, their application deadlines, majors offered, and supporting documents required. Pam works diligently to ensure the best chance of success for every transfer applicant.
College Counseling Services
My services range from an overview of the college process to a comprehensive personalized one-on-one approach that starts anywhere in high school. As your private college counselor, I can aid you in making informed decisions all through high school, which will put you on a college track to success. Meetings are conducted at the student’s home or any other mutually agreed upon location. If you are out of the Los Angeles area, we can also work by Skype, email, and phone.
After we determine the student’s goals, hopes, and dreams, we chart out a course to take. We take an overwhelming process and break it down by week and by month. At our first meeting, I give you an expandable folder in which to keep your written information that I continually provide at each meeting. This helps to keep you organized, on track, and with a steady stream of information right at your fingertips. The nuts and bolts of this process include forming a list of best fit colleges, the personal essay and supplements, financial aid forms, step by step application assistance, scholarship search, deciding on a college major, and anything else pertaining to your individual needs.
Pam provides private College Counseling services in the greater Los Angeles area. Included in our service area are Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Santa Monica, Malibu, Westwood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Beverlywood, Culver City, Hancock Park, San Fernando Valley (including Sherman Oaks, Encino, Tarzana, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, and Studio City), South Bay, Long Beach, and parts of Orange County (Including Newport Beach Cypress, and Irvine). Long distance counseling is available by Skype, phone, and email for students outside of Los Angeles and international students.
